Harris Reed: Ready-To-Wear AW23

Harris Reed is courting cool Hollywood. Fresh from dressing Harry Styles in Nina Ricci at the Brits, (ahead of his debut Paris show for the house next month), his London Fashion Week front row boasted Jodie Turner Smith wearing one of his signature cartwheel hats, whilst Florence Pugh opened his show with a speech about the transformative power of clothing. “Embrace the lamé and sequins of life because all the world is a stage,” she said whilst wearing a bedazzled harlequin maxi skirt and bustier.

Reed followed that mantra with a show that majored on drama. Many of the pieces verged on wearable sculptures. Silhouettes were extreme with soaring, moulded picture and peephole necklines framing the face and exaggerated crinoline fishtails, creating a fantasy fishtail look. Tailoring was fluted and flaring and topped with towering toadstool hats. Reed channeled ideas of Eighties glamour into pumped up puff-ball party dresses and lavishly swagged gowns in gold and black. Add a golden cosmic halo hat and it all looked out of this world. Reed is a brand building savant with charm and chutzpah for days and serious celebrity pulling power. Now with a Paris house at his fingertips, his sights are clearly set on red carpet glory. The chic of it!
