James B Webster and Darren Lynde-Mann share much more in common than the same Medieval town they both grew up in. Hailing from Framlingham, Suffolk, the pair of artists – Webster specialising in sculpture, Lynde-Mann painting – reflect each other’s tendency to favour muted hues and “gentle gesturing” of individuals and small groups.
The tender similarities of their work have drawn the twosome to collaborate on a joint exhibition. Open now until December 17, 2022, at Jonathan F.Kugel’s Cabinet de Curiosité Contemporain in Brussels, the showcase sees a series of works by Lynde-Mann inspired by a recent trip to Bologna. Webster reacted to his time spent working alongside Lynde-Mann with sculptures inspired by his continuous fascination with the classical with works that combine wax, terracotta, parrian, wire and plaster. It’s the first time the gallery has given artists the complete creative freedom to curate their own show, which illustrates how both allow texture and material to convey the feeling of human interaction through different mediums.
The exhibition is open at Jonathan F.Kugel Cabinet de Curiosité Contemporain in Brussels until December 17, 2022.
