We know you’ve probably told yourself to hold off on buying any new clothes, for the time being – considering we spend most of our time these days plonked on the couch. But will there ever be a wrong time to buy more Alexander McQueen? Today, the house announced an exciting new partnership with luxury retail site Vestiaire Collective. Notably, Alexander McQueen is the first major fashion house to collaborate with Vestiaire, on a project the two parties have christened Brand Approved.
Aligned with both McQueen’s and Vestiaire’s commitment to circular luxury fashion, a select group of clients will be contacted by Alexander McQueen to see if they wish to donate any McQueen pieces they have in their wardrobes. Once the garments have been authenticated by the brand, the clients will be gifted a credit note which they can spend at select McQueen boutiques across the globe.
Commencing today, you can shop a slew of rare pieces on the Brand Approved page on the Vestiaire Collective app – including a tartan skirt from the brand’s AW06 collection and a tuxedo jacket from SS11; Sarah Burton’s first collection as creative director for the house. “We are delighted to be the first house in the world to collaborate with Vestiaire Collective on its Brand Approved programme and to give beautifully crafted pieces a new story,” says Emmanuel Gintzburger, CEO of Alexander McQueen. “We are confident that our customers will be equally excited to take part in an initiative that challenges a linear economy and sets a new and more sustainable standard for the future.”
