2020 here on earth has been pretty crap, hasn’t it? We don’t know about you, but we’re looking for a one-way ticket to get the hell out of here – preferably to an entirely new dimension. Thankfully, Virgil Abloh is here to aid us on our escape mission. All aboard Abloh Airlines, as the creative director takes us to a higher place for his latest Louis Vuitton menswear campaign. Aptly titled Heaven on Earth, the surrealist clouds that coated both the set, seats and suits at LV’s AW20 show back in January, have now morphed into a full-blown universe – as seen through the lens of the legendary Tim Walker.
Continuing his ongoing exploration of boyhood – “seeing the world through the unspoiled eyes of a child” – Abloh sees this dream-like paradise as a symbol of freedom and unity; where heavenly bodies are able to float between borders and beliefs freely. Photographed here in London, the campaign stars both Top Boy leading man Micheal Ward and Ghanaian model Ottawa Kwami – who both sport some ace suits in camel, fuchsia and cloud print. The campaign falls in tangent with Abloh’s Black Imagination philosophy; uplifting black creatives from all fields as much as possible through his current platform at the esteemed heritage house. When’s it our turn to venture this peaceful land free of prejudice? Take us to the clouds above.
