Dior’s Latest Book Is Hats Galore

Hats off to Dior, they do know how to make a rather spectacular headpiece. For over half a century, hats have played a crucial role in the brand’s identity. So much so, in fact, that the house has teamed up with Rizzoli, New York to publish a brand new illustrated book that encompasses all their marvellous creations. Dior Hats: From Christian Dior to Stephen Jones celebrates over 70 years of Dior excellence and sheer creative brilliance. The book tours through the Parisian house’s history of splendid hats. Christian Dior himself saw hats as “the quintessential symbol of French haute couture” and ensured headpieces appeared in all his collections to maintain an unprecedented level of both sophistication and femininity. With each of Monsieur Dior’s successors, the brand’s hats have been reinvented and re-energised.

Since milliner extraordinaire Stephen Jones began designing the house’s hats in 1996, Dior’s hats have gotten bigger and bolder. From John Galliano’s haute-couture showstoppers to the intricate headpieces that have adorned Maria Grazia Chiuri’s tenure at the house, Jones is ensuring Christian Dior’s favourite accessory still takes centre stage in the Dior story. The book features text from Jones, alongside curator Florence Müller. The pair have been working on a new exhibition, Chapeaux Dior! The Art of the Hat, from Christian Dior to Stephen Jones, which will be held at the Christian Dior Museum in Granville, Normandy later this year. We think this momentous occasion calls for a new hat!
