There’s a utility vibe coursing through Milan and it’s swept as far as Boss. The tailoring giant, which has decamped from New York to MFW, opened its co-ed show with cropped military jackets and wide strides, rendered in pure white. That crisp clean look segued into primrose yellow, blush unisex suiting and easy knit dresses that skimmed the body. The suiting as always with Boss was impeccable and modern – they get the proportions just right. They also nailed the urban colour conundrum. This was a masterclass in tonal dressing, as clean crisp silhouettes were rendered in fresh springtime shades. The idea is simple: Dress in the same colour head to toe and you will look instantly put together. How about a cornflower blue leather maxi coat over a simple blue knit and matching midi skirt or a gray suit matching gray shirt and tie. It’s quirky, but not bonkers and it sure makes getting dressed in the morning easy. Tonal head to toe (THTT for short) even works with casual pieces. Wear your loose crochet T-shirt dress with a super-sized crossbody shopper in exactly the same material. Or put a stealth spin on the safari jacket by wearing it in black leather. These are the new Boss rules of sophisticated city camo. Blend, but stand out.
