With the number of pairs of Birkenstock we encounter on the daily, it’s hard to imagine the brand only just opened their first ever store across the pond. In the heart of SoHo, at 120 Spring Street, there’s now a haven for all those looking for organic German shoes that will take you places. And to celebrate their big arrival to the New World, Birkenstock have collaborated with Amit Greenberg (that’s @this.is.amit for our fellow Insta-maniacs), a NYC-based artist and illustrator whose charming sense of humour already translated into campaigns with global brands like Ikea, Colette (R.I.P.) and Band of Outsiders.
On this occasion, Amit created a whole the next big boyband – Birkie & the Toes, German small-town boys that are coming to NYC for their first American adventure. Excited to see what’s ahead and ready to take the town while wearing the comfy Arizona Birkenstocks. Are Birkie & the Toes might be the next One Direction? According to the amount of fun they are having, we can only hope so. And as any real band on the uprising, they are already selling their own band tees at Birkenstock as well as a limited-edition of their own Arizona’s, exclusively in the brand’s new SoHo store. We’re already singing along!
