Versace is in full bloom. It isn’t for the faint-hearted, Donatella Versace doesn’t do that. “These are men who do not care about the rules and that is exactly what I love: they have an opinion and make their own style choices,” she said. Tell ‘em, DV. The Versace man knows what he wants. For Spring/ Summer 2019 we went into the Versace garden where he sauntered, baggy blazer and jeans, the ultimate bad boy. All the classic Versace royal purples and golden yellows were popping patchworked prints amongst slogan Versace newspaper print that screamed “The Super Exclusive, Versace finally speaks out.” Outspoken, just how we like it. Bucket hats were the best seller, Versacified and pulled low in disguise. Boys were in high gloss hot red snakeskin prints, brought back to the ground in shades of beige, on jackets and on knits with V marked crest of arms, anything but basic. Girls were in the shortest shorts low-key with t-shirts and of course the mini dresses dropped by the dozen, embellished in glitter or classic black leather. Va va voom. It was electric-shocked into new territory with the injection of fluorescent green igniting a spark on dark florals, all-in-one neon suits were bright as hell and followed by a surge of heavenly pure white denim on denim. Socks were pulled high, eyewear was sly and all was belted in big gold buckles. Prints on prints on prints, never too much happening here. A kaleidoscope of the Versace vision. Our Supreme leader Donatella came out in a strapless black leather dress, the show was over and the balance had been restored.
