Ten’s 2018 Met Gala Round-Up

rihanna_mainThe most important night in fashion for the year has officially happened overnight, so we are at Ten Towers, sifting through the heart-stoppingly good, the average, the bad, the tragic. It’s what we do best. The 2018 Met Gala’s theme was Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination, so we expected to see a whole lot of Atelier Versace Fall Winter 97 sort of Roman Catholic inspired fabulousness. A dream theme. An excuse for all these celebs to werk those heavenly bodies. And they did. These are our top… 20 looks. Because sometimes 10 just isn’t enough. As Madonna so wisely once sang: “Bless yourself and genuflect.”

Rihanna in Custom Maison Margiela (above)

Let’s begin with the Queen. It seems that no matter what Rihanna wears she will win the game. This time she went supreme pontiff style in Maison Margiela, v reminiscent of John Galliano’s Dior Couture Fall 2000. She is the most holy. Take us to church, Queen.annaAnna Wintour in Chanel

And now for the Queen’s mother. The Met Gala is her kingdom and we will so gladly bow down to Anna Wintour in another genius Chanel creation that simply said: “Yes?”

lanaLana Del Rey, Alessandro Michele and Jared Leo in Gucci

Gucci got biblical with Lana Del Rey channelling Mother Mary and the seven sorrows, full heart and daggers protruding out of her dress. Don’t mess with her, as one should already know. Jared Leto went full Jesus, a comparison that flooded the Internet. Only at this years Met. Good things come in threes so obvs Alessandro was their leader. The Gucci Holy Trinity.

zoeZoe Kravitz in Saint Laurent

Whatever she wears this bish has a heavenly body and we are all here for a little (literally) lace Saint Laurent. Get them bodied.

kimKim Kardashian West in Versace

Gold, liquid gold. She always makes us wait but oh how it’s worth the wait. Dripping in Versace with probably the best hair and make-up moment of the night, this was a Donatella skin tight creation that only a woman whose body has just become the mould of a fragrance bottle could look this good in. A couple of crosses on a golden Versace body con, paired with a smoky eye? Our new religion. Boom.

madonnaMadonna in Jean Paul Gaultier

What more is there to say than Just Like A Prayer She Took Us There. The most natural Heavenly Body for the night in her total element. Madonna also surprised guests with a holy performance of Like a Prayer. Blessed.

cardiCardi B in Moschino

If you’re going to do the Met pregnant, do it in pure white bejewelled Moschino with Jeremy Scott (also jewel encrusted) on arm. We expected nothing less. Okurrrrrr.

jloJennifer Lopez in Balmain

We wouldn’t want that hip high slit from anyone else. Jennifer Lopez in holy-crossed Balmain, crystallised like glass stained windows. But this is Balmain and the Met, so of course Olivier Rousteing added a deep black feather train. We expect this is what waits at the gates in our kind of heaven.

emmaEmma Stone in Louis Vuitton

Emma Stone so super sleek in Nicolas Ghesquiére’s Louis Vuitton, with just that right amount of inappropriate neck plunging. Skilful, sinful. amandaAmanda Seyfried in Prada

You can’t go wrong in Prada, obvs. All the innocence and experience of a bible class happening her. A romantic spirit to all the high drama of this years Met.

caraCara Delevingne in Dior

Oh yes, Cara Delevingne is devilishly good in Dior. A beaded veil and pink hair with that evil dark red-lipped stare. This is the dark side of the church and we have faith.

selenaSelena Gomez in Coach

Hollywood’s hillsong-singing most faithful was of course in divine cream Coach, apparently channelling Queen Esther. Tiered silk gauze and glittering golden eyes. Yas Queen.

coleCole Sprouse in Thom Browne

Cole Sprouse has officially moved past his Disney days and into a slick Thom Browne grograin tipped cavalry twill pin-tucked overcoat with a cream tuxedo vest. Ugh. Sounds as good as it looks. A cropped to the ankle TB moment is always welcomed.

hamishHamish Bowles in Valentino Haute Couture

Hamish for Pope! Long live the Pope! So much theatre and commitment. Thou shalt rise and go to heaven.

dakotaDakota Fanning in Miu Miu

A First Holy Communion. We are with Dakota in all her angelic white one shouldered Miu Miu. Lightness. Rightness.

lilyLily Collins in Givenchy Haute Couture

In it’s deep V, ode to Hubert, Lily Collins described her looks as “chic nun.” Therefore we love it and from this day will always channel chic nuns when dressed in our deepest, darkest Givenchy. The look was complete with blood red teardrop on the cheek. Sort of like a Givenchy gangster. We love this concept.

BridgePhoebe Waller-Bridge in Christopher Kane

Represent. Yes, we knew there was something heavenly about Christopher Kane’s AW18 collection and all it’s ‘The Joy of Sex’ illustration prints. Yes, it felt so right on this holy carpet. More Joy.

amalAmal Clooney in Richard Quinn

Amal Clooney was first to bless the Met Gala carpet, obvs with George on arm but more importantly in Richard Quinn. Navy slick cigarette pants sat slyly under a floral train. Boss lady in the building. Human rights lawyer, but make it fashion.

kerryKerry Washington in Ralph Lauren

More mellifluous gold, this time in the form of a long sleeved Ralph Lauren gown on Kerry Washington. Well, gold was one of the three gifts brought to Jesus when he was born. True religion.

NickNick and Susie Cave in Gucci

Susie Cave in the best Gucci look from AW18 and Nick Cave looking as darkly, artfully, heavenly as always. Sublime. The modern Medici family.
