Prada: Resort 2019

Miuccia Prada has nothing to prove. She knows what works. She knows what’s good. And so another flawless Prada collection was presented, this time in New York. Although last year’s cruise setting was a hard act to follow, this was the kind of no fuss situation at which Mrs Prada excels- she went straight for the New York skyline sunset inside the Piano Factory, a naked concrete setting by Herzog & de Meuron. This said- focus on the clothes. So we shall, as we should. It was good classic Prada, rich browns and oranges flooded the runway in low waisted, belted mini skirts and slouchy pants. Miuccia Prada is the only designer who nails those comeback colours. Tank tops with ruffles on the edges, mini skirts and t-shirt ‘gowns’ gave a pure ‘90s long linear nod to glamour. It began with Michael Andrews’ ‘Mad World,’ poignant and so totally Prada, before it revved up into kick ass intensity with hard hitting beats. Prints were on point and the hats, oh the hats. Exaggerated for the Prada gang that hangs out on the streets of NYC. This was Prada totally at ease and in it’s element. The dreams in which we’re wearing Prada Resort 2019 are the best we’ve ever had.
