Another day, another fashion newsflash. They’re coming in hot. Over the weekend, it was announced that Haider Ackermann was stepping down from his three season post as Artistic Director of Berluti. Immediately, we were speculating. It’s what we do best. And as expected, our speculations were right and this morning Kris Van Assche was confirmed as the new Artistic Director of Berluti, “I have always wanted to build bridges between the savoir-faire, the heritage of a house and my clear-cut contemporary vision. Antoine Arnault spoke to me of his ambitions for Berluti and it is with great pleasure that I accept this new challenge which fits perfectly with my own will and vision,” Van Assche said. The designer, who just left his 11 year reign at Dior Homme, will show his first collection in January 2019 at Paris Men’s Fashion Week. Plenty of time to perfect Berluti’s next chapter. What can we expect from Kris’ Berluti? We’re thinking sharp suits, rappers and expertly tailored casual wear. Bring it on. ‘Til then, more of those newly appointed menswear designers showing in June will keep us going. Congratulations, Kris. We’re loving all these shake-ups.
