Lamyland: Michèle Lamy Is Opening Her Own Selfridges Boxing Gym

LamyWhammo! Michèle Lamy is taking over the Selfridges’ ‘Corner Shop’, previously occupied by A$AP Rocky’s Bodega pop-up, with a temporary space dedicated to her love of…boxing. Who knew? We did actually, given Michèle was our Issue 56 cover star. Even so, Michèle Lamy is an incredible woman full of mystery and intrigue. Previously the owner of L.A’s infamous underground club Les Deux Cafes during the 1990s, a singer, a trained solicitor, creative collaborator of husband Rick Owens – she defies definition. “I have a combative mind,” revealed Lamy whilst speaking to Business of Fashion, it’s the same sentiment that fuelled the premise of the pop-up, namely, to ask participants “what are you fighting for?” Does losing a little holiday weight count? A little less heroic, perhaps. Anyway, the space will not only include a whole host of boxing themed capsule collections, from Versace’s Rococo boxing silks to Gareth Pugh’s Swarovski-encrusted robes, but all the boxing gear you could ever hope to need, including activewear and jewellery (never enter the ring without bling). On top of that, Lamy will also be hosting actual boxing workshops and multiple events alongside boxing superstars Anthony Joshua and Nicola Adams – maybe there will even be a chance to go a few round with Michèle… Rather you than me.

Lamyland opened yesterday and will run until March 25th
