Manuel Facchini’s inspired by, or so we’ve read, crop circles. You don’t need us to explain to you what they are – Mr Facchini said that the collection “renews the mystery of crop circles, overrides its intention, emphasises the essence and becomes an illusory emotion and very, very fluid.” Disclaimer: this may or may not be an exact quotation – the press release was in Italian, which we don’t speak, so we ran it through Google Translate. But you get the gist. There was something literal about this choice of reference – namely: there were circles, circles that appeared across the collection – macrame on strappy tops or the hems of skirts, or in raw-cut eyelets that sat across the chest or down the front of knee-high boots. I want to say there there is something gladiatorial about the silhouette – the spiky pleated skirts and armour-like tops. But sporty. Trackpants, anoraks and the like. Fierce!
