Rodarte Are Subject Of New Fashion Exhibition

Washington is quite a terrifying place to be currently. Because of Trump, yes, but also because I spent a large portion of my weekend binging an entire series of Designated Survivor, a show which involves Kiefer Sutherland as president, several massive terrorist attacks and a high-level government conspiracy, and thus have, potentially, lost all grip of reality. It’s been a lot. Either way, Washington needs something hopeful. Cue then, the announcement this weekend from the The National Museum of Women in the Arts that they would be housing an exhibition of the work of the immensely talented Mulleavy sisters, AKA Rodarte. Because what’s more hopeful than some really great frocks? “They work a lot like artists in the sense that they’re almost artisanal in the way they produce their work; they somewhat go against the grain of having a really huge schedule of shows,” Director of NMWA, told WWD. Rounding out the institutions 30th Anniversary celebrations, the exhibition will arrive in Autumn next year. Booking flights ASAP.
