You know those walking tours you sometimes pass in London? The ones with lots of excited tourists and a guide that is possibly holding up an umbrella. Well, consider this, London Uprising: Fifty Fashion Designers, One City, written by Tania Fares and Sarah Mower, as the equivalent for fash lovers in book form. With it, you will be able to trace your own route across the capital, stopping off at the studios of fifty of the city’s designers. Each designer talks about their practices, philosophies and all those other things that has made them stars of todays London fashion scene (we’re particularly intrigued by the ‘material from their private collections’ part). Speaking ahead of the launch, Tania said “the fifty designers profiled within the book represent a cross-section of the London fashion scene right now, from the large scale British powerhouses to smaller emerging talent”. As an homage to the media, who have also played their part in making London a fashion capital (ahem!), the book will include interviews between each designer and various members of London’s foremost fashion editors and writers, including the lovely Sarah Mower of Vogue.com, Lisa Armstrong of The Daily Telegraph and Justine Picardie, editor-in-chief of Harper’s Bazaar. All accompanied with some nice piccies of each of the fifty designers, photographed in their studios by photographers like Kevin Davies, Tara Darby and Christopher Brooks.
