Happy birthday Juun.J! That conveniently rhymes, and neatly describes the fact that… well, it’s Juun.J’s birthday. Not the actual birthday of the actual Mr Juun.J, but of his label, which hits a decade in business this season. Doing so made Juun.J look backwards, diving into his archive to come up with a greatest hits collection. But it wasn’t about old news – indeed, it was about new beginnings. Like women on the catwalk – a first, in that capsule collection for her (hurrah!) was unveiled alongside his classic men’s pieces. Jun.J’s stylistic output over the past decade chimes quite oddly with the here and now – witness his massively oversized flight jackets, a supersize super trend which shows no signs of abating. Everything else was supersize too – almost as if Juun.J stores his archive in Alice’s wonderland, and we’d all drunk that shrinking potion before eating the magical expanding cake again. Alas, cake does always make us magically expand – but not quite to fill Juun.J’s capacious clothing. Which is good, because obviously its supposed to trail around your body and make you look teeny-weeny by comparison. Which is why it’s proved so popular for ten years. We all want to look a little bit smaller after all. So hurrah and happy birthday to Juun.J. Now, where’s the rest of the cake?
