“My favourite show of London,” declares Garth. Martine Rose’s AW17 show was, for want of better words (sorry, it’s late) bloody brilliant. And it’s not often that we would drag ourselves out to N15 for a fashion show. But the amazing Seven Sisters market was the perfect backdrop (and there was food – proper food – chips, fried goods) for the collection – a sort of riff on masculine archetypes – bankers, office workers, bus drivers – the male uniform skewed in its proportions and in the details. Like the double waistbands, or those easy access zip flies that sliced right down the front of the crotch, bank teller style name badges, tie clips. It was this sort of brilliantly warped corporate uniform – XL wide-leg trousers, silky 90s-ish shirts, anoraks. Feeling a bit like obsessive fans. And rambling. Exciting fashions cause us to do so. Left Garth wandering into the night mumbling “want to wear! want to buy!” See you tomorrow…
