E. Tautz: Menswear AW17

First show of the day and we’re off to a – let’s say – bookish start. For AW17, E.Tautz presented a selection of boys that you could probably have found loitering around the dark corners of an Oxford University library in 1956. Let’s call them posh totty. Not that, we should note, any of these clothes were in any traditionally way “sexy” (the notes even referenced a “scarecrow” as an inspiration point) but there’s something about a boy in a houndstooth suit and specs that gets us hot under the colour. It was all a nod to post-war tailoring (and E.Tautz are, as we know, very good at tailoring) – coming in an palette of auntumnal hues, the proportions loosened up – wide-leg trousers, boxy oversized blazers. And some decent casual wear besides – slightly shrunken jumpers, pull-over tops with a touch of raincoat about them and loose, billowing shirts.
