More fashion week schedule fiddling comes courtesy of Vera Wang who yesterday announced it’s ta-rah to New York and bonjour to gay Paris. Yep, next season she is leaving behind her home city and having a transatlantic moment, presenting her new collection in the City of Lights. But that’s not it. Not only is she ditching NY, she’s ditching the whole show, presenting the collection instead in a special film shown on the first day of fashion week, the day that she will also receive the prestigious Légion d’Honneur award. No news yet on a director, but Vera has promised an ode to Paris, according to WWD. So what made her make the shift? “Part of the frustrating thing for me in New York, the calendar is so full now that it’s insane to try to get models and hair and makeup. It’s a battle royale for everybody – stylists, model agencies – everybody is just crammed in,” she told WWD. “The other part that has troubled me — not anything against the CFDA, because I have supported it – but there aren’t that many locations available. That’s a limitation when you’re trying to express a point of view, or you have a certain kind of girl in your brain, or guy in your brain. That is the biggest limitation for me.” Vera Wang’s move comes after news last week that Hugo Boss’ BOSS womenswear would not be showing in New York this season. Who’s next?
