Diesel Collaborate With Artist Rostarr On New Watch

Imagine, if you will, a watch that is also a piece of art. Not in a wanky metaphorical sense – like “wow, the cogs on that Swiss watch are a work of art”, but a watch that, quite literally, has a piece of art upon it. Well, a part of one. Like Diesel’s brand new, limited edition watch, the Diesel Alrite. Because, not content with just being a fine, chunky timepiece in its own right, it also has 1/555 of a massive 150 square foot artwork by Brooklyn-based artist Romom Kimin AKA Rostarr on it. He’s famed for his intricate, graphic calligraphy-based work on canvas, which here was snipped into 555 pieces, backed on to leather and made into 555 watches. Because where better to hang your art collection than right around your wrist? As the notes say – “art is an object but also an experience. It speaks directly to the intuition and the instinct, asking the question: Do these look better on the street or in a gallery?” For which we say, street. We want everyone to see what we’re packing.

The watch will be available from the 20th October, then from mid-November you can purchase a replica style available in all stores and online…
