Graphic silhouettes, angular lines and geometric prints were beautifully softened with use of slouchy pleated pieces and clever use of colour – tones of powdery pinks, pale beige and minty greens and blues meant the sharp shapes were never severe. In keeping with structured, mathmatical approach to the clothes, show notes were, pleasingly, equally clean cut. No nonsense. No romance. No obscure song lyrics or symbolic poems. Just cold, hard facts. Sometimes there’s no such thing as too real. We learnt about the labels fresh techniques, with looks divided into three sections – “Cut & Stick”, “3D Steam Stretch”, “Baked Stretch” each showcasing their own innovative process in typical Issey fashion. “EB” (Electronic bag) is perhaps the most futuristic of the designs, with the patterns of the bag magically transforming in your hands using ‘e-paper technology’. Your bags design will blink. It will graduate. It will pleasure and entertain you with a performance unmatched by any other accessory. Well, bar one. But in honour to Issey, we’re keeping it clean.
