When we think of Jil Sander we are just programmed to expect next level clean, fuss free, minimalism and something seemingly uncomplicated. We expect to be taken straight to a wonderful clinical utopia that we never knew existed. SS17 was more complicated. Rodolfo Paglialunga took us on a different journey. It was curvilinear sleeves, madhouse layers, billowing pleating combined with pinstripes and power shoulders. You don’t mess with the Jil Sander woman. We loved the simplicity of the untucked shirt and boy style drop crotch shorts with that well cut Jil Sander crispness. “A twisted vision of timeless classics,” the show notes read. Is this the new gen Jil Sander though? The codes are very much there but in a new interpretation. She’s getting to reimagine herself. New decisions, moving forward. A new way of life. Stay tuned.
