Francesco Scognamiglio: Ready-to-wear SS17

Urban infant terribles. That was the theme for Francesco Scognamiglio’s SS17 show last night. Or, to put it another way, think “21st century neo-renaissance in a blend of magic spells and embroidery”, but don’t expect this to turn into some dark, witchy affair. This was a white witch affair. Dresses were short, think a swingy 60’s number in a clean, fresh feeling palette of blue and white, shot through with silver embroidery. Oversized, sheer shirts, that morphed into tunics were trimmed with pearls. Knitted boots gave the collection a relaxed air, tying together the more sculptural aspects of the clothes with the nonchalant nature of the more masculine pieces. This was certainly glamorous, but not in an over the top, 80s Danielle Steele heroine way. Think of this as subtle glamour. It doesn’t scream, it whispers.
