Forget your troubles, come on get happy. That was the motto at Michael Kors’ SS17 show. And how could we not be? I mean, for a start Rufus Wainwright was there. And he sang his heart out to us, accompanied by a three piece band. We like to think directly to us, but who knows. It was a bright collection, making it the perfect get-ups for the New York 35 degree heat today. It was Seventies. America in the Seventies. That Jetset glamour Michael Kors does oh so well. Chambray florals in hot pinks and sky blues, belted waists, peaked collars. Think of it as New York City girl goes to the Hamptons. Safari style suiting with sleeveless jackets in neutral colours, a bit of leg in cut-off bodysuits. Best of both worlds. It was all very energetic (we know, not like us) – silhouettes bounced as the girls walked, embellished sequins gleamed and bias ruffles flowed – as Rufus sang, it was almost like being in love. And following on from his last collection, Kors is incorporating the “ready to wear, ready to go” concept with a dozen of the pieces, shoes and accessories available to purchase at Madison Ave and Bleecker St afterwards. So, since Kors designed the perfect collection for this weather, we are off to see, buy and wear it. Yep, if you need us we’re shopping.
