Just because couture happens to be taking place in Paris right now, that doesn’t mean that London is completely devoid of any excitement. I mean, just this very morning there was a person under a train on the Central line, delays on the Circle line, a signal failure at Edgware Road, not to mention the announcement of the International Woolmark Prize 2016/17 British Isles regional final winners. Well technically the prize giving took place last night, but the news pinged into our inboxes this morning, hence our very exciting morning of delayed commutes and announcements. And so, who won you ask? COTTWEILER took home the menswear prize and Faustine Steinmetz the womenswear prize.
As Dylan Jones, one of the judges of this years prize, said of the designers, “both winners displayed an innate understanding of the fibre, a keen commercial sensibility and a great design aesthetic. They both appear to have the ability to turn their designs and Merino wool into successful retail collections.”
We’d like to say a big congratulations to both winners.
