The stand out bit of styling backstage at Wang’s latest show were polo necks pulled high over models faces, in the same way an over cautious parent might prepare their toddler for a cold winters day. But the weblike detailing of this garment injected looks with an ominous quality. Lashings of leather were used to the effect of uniform, a simplified and luxurious sort of armour which moved purposefully away from the designers more laissez-affaire M-0-D aesthetic. Despite the urgency of this new woman, every so often more feminine details drew you in, from delicate cut outs to a glossy kind of fringing. I’ve spent about an hour trying to twist the features of this collection to fit my rather daft definition of an’urban Praying Mantis’. She’ll have a grande skinny wet cappuccino (to go) and possibly your fella, type thing. Sorry Tenners…it’s the polar necks again, have decided they’re concealing deadly runway pouts for a darker reason. Supermodel muzzles!
