Right, the speculation can stop. Oscar de la Renta has confirmed that he is handing over the creative steering wheel of his eponymous brand to Peter Copping. Copping, who left his position at Nina Ricci earlier this month, will begin his new job in November and show his first collection at New York Fashion Week in February. “Oscar de la Renta has defined American elegance for generations of women,” Copping said on his appointment. “The opportunity to work with him and help ensure the future of the brand is very exciting.” And what did de la Renta have to say about it? That he is very happy, of course. Aside from their design sensibilities, apparently the pair share a “deep curiosity about the wider world, from music and art to architecture and gardens.” How lovely. We’re looking forward to seeing what Copping brings to the brand in February.
