BEAUTY FINDS IS TEN’S ONLINE SERIES WHERE BEAUTY AUTHORITY EDWINA INGS-CHAMBERS DISSECTS HER MUST-HAVE BEAUTY FINDS EACH MONTH.
June, the month that summer finally found us and festival season kicked off in full force. But what beauty gems did we unearth? Here’s a rewind to the best finds.
Chill Out with the new Susanne Kaufmann Cooling Body Mist spray. Containing refreshing – and cooling – menthol and horse chestnut extract, as well as a blend of citronella, eucalyptus, lavender and sage oils for a bit of energy boost, this is a swanky spritz to beat the city heat. Housed in a fully recycled plastic bottle, it’s the perfect on-the-move rescue. Shop here.
Give us a tint: The tinted fancy lip balm movement keeps growing. Now, it’s the turn of legendary makeup artist Lisa Eldridge with her Baume Embrace melting lip colour. It’s a seriously nourishing balm formula complete with shea butter, jojoba oil, pomegranate extract and meadowfoam seed oil. And the colours – five in total – give a lovely sheen of glistening wash – but aren’t trying to be lipsticks in disguise. Eldridge should also be given an award for turning the rom-com phrase “Meet Cute” into a shade name (a light peach, as it happens… juicy!). Shop here.
Get an SSPF – that’s a Skincare (and) Sun Protection Factor hybrid and you can look to Murad for a great one with their new Multi-Vitamin Clear Coat SPF50 with a clear gel-like texture. So yes, it’s a great broad spectrum protection but while it’s doing that it is also stimulating your skin’s ceramide production, strengthening the skin barrier and contains a complexion boosting cocktail of vitamins C,D,E and F. Suitable for all skins and reef safe too, you can purchase yours here.
Be Handy with Aesop’s recently launched hand balm. 34 years after its first cult version was created in a Melbourne hair salon, there’s a new one in town: Eleos Aromatique. Its fragrant blend includes cedar atlas, patchouli and clove bud essential oil, is quickly absorbed and is very nourishing. Coming housed in a pretty, give-it-to-me-now, lavender-hued aluminium tube or a recycled PET pump bottle, you can buy yours here.
Blush anew with the latest top-notch blush powder from Nars. The brand is always a top scorer on the blush front so it’s no wonder that its big new launch is… a brilliant reboot of the already iconic Made You Blush! Now available in 20 shades (a mix of bestsellers and some fresh options), it’s available with matte, satin or shimmer finishes. A great pigment, it’s very finely milled so you can go light or build up depending on preference. Not to mention it’s long-lasting and doesn’t sit in crinkles. Shop here.
Sing the blues (again) with another gentle beauty reboot – this time with Dolce and Gabbana’s Light Blue Summer Vibes fragrance. It retains the fresh and carefree citrus, floral notes and warm notes of the original, but this version opens with bergamot and has peach at its heart with plenty of cedarwood notes. The Pour Homme version has more freshness added to its usually woody, aquatic mood with cypress and a lively twist thanks to Sicilian lemon. Both come housed in white and blue glass bottles that look like the Sicilian tiles you probably drooled over on holiday and will have you in a happy, escapist mood before you even take off the cap. Tell everyone to stick it… for a foundation texture, obviously (why, what were you thinking?!). There are loads of them about, but for a really dewy finish look to Charlotte Tilbury and her new, Unreal Skin Sheer Glow Tint Hydrating Foundation Stick with sheer-to-buildable coverage. “You’ll come for the texture and you’ll stay for the results,” said Tilbury at the launch. “You’ll look like you’re wearing nothing but have the most incredible skin.” Available in 20 shades, it smooths and blurs as it goes. Meet your foundation match here.
Aim for bronze because the RMS Dimension Hydra Bronzer is gold medal standard. A gel-to-powder formula, it combines longwear skills with the nourishment of a cream (it contains jojobo and buriti oil – a great antioxidant) and the light-reflecting powers of a powder. Easily buildable it delivers a back-from-holiday sun-kissed look. Talc-free and refillable, it comes in four fresh shades. Purchase yours here.
Go brow-zing with Milk Makeup’s new Kush High Roll Brow Tint. It’s a tubing formula – so it simply wipes off with warm water – and is alcohol free, which means that you won’t end up with slightly crunchy or flaking brows a few hours into wear. The brush also ensures that each hair gets properly coated with product for a much fuller effect. With eight shades available, you can shop the release here.
And breathe….with the essential mood oil collaboration between the very special independent brand Elyse and fashion stylist Shelly Vella: the Verdant blend. Inspired by Vella’s love of riding her horse in the countryside, it captures the lush, green essence of sunlit forests, tall trees, fresh woodland foliage and dappled light with notes of cedarwood atlas, scotch pine, sandalwood and patchouli. Cruelty free and made using locally sourced ingredients you can shop the Verdant blend here.
