When fashion goes smaller, Zomer goes bigger. The womenswear label helmed by duo Danial Aitouganov and Imruh Asha, presented its SS26 collection – Collection 05 – which eschewed minimalism and instead tapped into the tension between playfulness and sophistication.
First out were eye-catching leather jackets that morphed into billowing skirts, colourfully pleated and cut. These were followed by a fiery leather dress before shifting into relaxed suits and shirts that played with form and function. A-line dresses breezed through. Capris and khakis emerged in funky patterns. Bow ties dramatically reimagined appeared on the neckline of almost every top and jacket throughout.
It was a mix and match collection served with an extra large side of humour. Enter: the belts. Supersized and wrapping around models from ribs to hips. Next came a colossal claw-clip-cum-crop-top that would require at least two people to operate it. There were stripes in varying breadths and mismatched colours, paired with skirts upon skirts (literally). In a striking combo, snake skin was layered upon a flower patterned cotton tube dress.
A magenta dress appeared then, the model wearing a gigantic engagement ring around her torso – a rock to outshine all others who dare try – signalling a woman’s journey from childlike play into the sophisticated feminine.
Exaggerated and distorted, boisterous and alive, Zomer SS26 declared that when you think you’ve gone big, you should only go bigger.
