Y/Project: Ready-to-Wear AW18

As the snow falls on an icy Paris, the fashion flock circle the city to trying to find new information for Autumn/ Winter 18. A non-referenced revolution of information. Enter Glenn Martens, now going into his fifth year as Creative Director at Y/Project. With a background involving studies in interior design, and then moving on to Gaultier, Martens has managed to bridge the gap between the streets to couture nicely. Bringing Paris street-cred to the more traditional Paris schedule. The collection’s decadent draping cascaded over thigh-high sheep skin Ugg boots. Moments of excess flashed with striped minks pulled back with faded denim. Martens’ juxtapositions of extreme luxury to everyday causality shine in the Paris blizzard of designers. And his complexity in construction gives the items multiple ways of being worn or styled. She’s Catherine Deneuve as a Bastille, Bourgeois, Belle de Jour.
