Ever had the desire to lift rump from front row seat, storm the catwalk and maniacally rip the dress from unsuspecting model’s bod? All because you just couldn’t bear to wait a whole six months? Well, now you can. Sort of. Because, instead of assaulting a model and facing potential legal action, at Topshop Unique’s show this September you will be able to buy the clothes you see on the runway the very same day. Yes. Instantly. Now, it’s not everything, but an carefully selected edit – everything from casual separates to finale dresses, all available to purchase from Topshop.com and a selection of stores worldwide straight after the show. Welcome to the future. Mary Homer, the Managing Director of Topshop, said of the move this morning: “bringing our customers closer to the London Fashion Week experience has always been a focus for us, but now, more than ever, in a rapidly changing global marketplace where consumers demand immediacy, we recognise the importance of disrupting the traditional model.” It has also been revealed that this year’s show will take place at Spitalfields Market, under it’s glass canopy. “The starting point for the Unique collection is always the celebration of British style and its rich heritage,” Kate Phelan, Creative Director says, “so we feel Spitalfields provides the perfect backdrop to showcase our new collection. With a history steeped in over 350 years of selling to the general public, we also feel it’s a fitting venue in which to debut our ‘Runway-to-Retail’ concept.” We’re counting down the minutes.
