If she was alive in 2018, Venus would totally be wearing a pair of heeled, over-the-knee Ugg boots. At least that’s the message Glenn Martens is sending through with the new UGG x Y/Project campaign. Shot by Arnaud Lajeunie, styled by Ursina Gysi, and starring Hercules, Apollo, Omphale with our girl Venus as the faces of the collaboration, the campaign is reimagining Classic art with some reimagined classic Uggs. First shown as part of the Y/ Project men’s AW18 collection in Paris back in January, the iconic Paris Hilton-approved footwear got transformed into high-fashion objects of desire. Yes, they might been known for their warmth and comfort, but Uggs are now putting the fab in fabulous.
“The starting inspiration would be the birth of Venus. This is about the birth of something classic, the birth of this collaboration, surfing on waves, twisting the expected, triggering the eye in an eclectic mishmash of different codes,” Mister Martens says about unique collab. In true Y/ Project-style, the collection digs deeper, beyond the simplicity of shapes and pure functionality, and revealing the beauty of the unexpected. Three-layered turnover booties? If Bad Gal Riri can do it, so can we. All of a sudden, the coming winter is looking so much more appealing. Bring in the snow!
