Wunderkind: Ready-to-wear SS17

Is there anything better than a debut? Like a fresh, unspoilt white sheet. Or something. I know, I know, this isn’t a debut in the usual sense. But, it was Wunderkind’s debut show in the fair city on Milano. And, in talk of debuts, it is also the first time that our fabulous Fashion Editor-at-Large / all round self-described creative polymath, Hannelore Knuts, has lent her styling talents to the show. So what was on the menu for the first course of Wolfgang Joop’s Milanese feast? Leather bras. Yep, first look, revealed under a sheer dress. Not that we, by the way, need any further convincing to don a leather undergarment. The rest was a sort of fabulous mish-mash, loosely inspired by Spanish baroque – slim-strapped girlish dresses dotted with flowers, handkerchief hemmed skirts, flared at the hem, puff sleeves, criss-cross lace fastenings. And alongside, a nice take on suiting – boxy, masculine, pitched at the shoulders, given a loucheness by by the feminine blouses that sat beneath. So yes, we agree. Wolfgang Joop – a Wunderkind indeed.
