Celebrating those designers particularly talented in fashioning clothing in the medium of wool, the International Woolmark Prize has this morning announced its UK nominees. Nominees who will first compete against each other to take home the prize for the British Isles and the chance to compete internationally, hoping to follow in the well-heeled footsteps of last year’s winners: the lovely Cottweiler boys and Gabriela Hearst, who won the menswear and womenswear prizes respectably. But no more do! Here they are – Helen Lawrence, Le Kilt, Roberts Wood and Sadie Williams will compete for the womenswear prize, with Liam Hodges, Matthew Miller and Phoebe English Man nominated for the menswear prize. Just being nominated will get them $2000 to help them proceed on their quest to the big prize – swiftly fashioning something Union Jack based (a Geri mini, obv) to support our boys and girls!
