A change of mood and mentality took over at Yuhan Wang’s SS22 show on Saturday morning. As a heavy yet serene soundtrack played in the background, the collection payed tribute to domestic abuse victims and tackled themes of gender inequality.
The collection tapped into female vulnerability and the all too common way women live in fear. A theme of sexy femininity and strength donned Wang’s signature ruched dresses, which came covered in colourful nature prints featuring butterflies and unique florals. Sensual lace dresses were covered in pastel hues, embroidered with intricate floral patterns and wrapped in bright 3-D printed gun-shaped leather bumbags.
Celebrating female power, Wang looked towards delicacy intertwined with romantic motifs. elegant embroidered faux leather blazers and coats were paired with raw-edged corsets; whilst lace and floral jacquard blouses were seen featuring delicate scalloped edges paired with flowy gored skirts. The collection came covered in hues of pea green, baby blue and lavender, whilst the designer also presented a new seasonal print featuring galloping horses appearing on silk dresses and tube skirts transmitting a sense of freedom across the pieces.
