One thing is for sure – you can count on Oscar de la Renta to deliver what women want and perhaps what women didn’t know they want! Designers Fernando Garcia and Laura Kim know how to stay true to the codes of the house that Mr De La Renta left behind, but bringing their own aesthetic to it. Plenty of tailoring and suiting for the day time- especially an orange/gold-ish pants suits that not only your Upper East Side society lady can wear to a luncheon but a fashion girl like Camila Coelho would make it into the most wanted street style look.
Tweed and houndstooth coats, floral patchwork coats, rich velvets, the detailed tapestry coat can work both uptown and downtown, worn over crop tops with pants. Then came the gowns. Where do we even begin! Designers Fernando and Laura really delivered. The white ostrich feathered gown on Meghan Roche had all of front row gasping, the dramatic dark blue layered silk taffeta gown must be on the red carpet during Oscar season and the finale gown – a full skirt velvet and tulle gown on Bella Hadid is what Oscar De La Renta dreams are made of. Pure fantasy, pure luxury and it was wonderful.
