No21: Ready-to-wear AW20

Alessandro Dell’acqua delivered a masterclass in Milanese dressing at his Numero Ventuno label. Take a shirt, but make it seductive. Not slutty, but hot, in a way that’s so sure of itself it doesn’t need to be overt. That means a man-size pinstripe shirt worn with nothing but a boyfriend knit and a classic pump. It also means a wool sheath dress that falls off the shoulder in a way that would get you talked about in parliament. Call it sass, but this collection packed a knowing punch. Finely dressed to the point of being adorned (how else do you explain a khaki feather chubby?). She’s not invisible. How could you be, in vivid green all-over sequins? The No21 woman likes her classics – she knows all about the virtues of tonal dressing (beige is her shade of choice) and embraces lace. You also won’t find a finer wool pencil skirt anywhere in Milan.
