Think the kids from Euphoria are the best dressed teens about? Well unlucky Jules, Rue and co: you’ve got stiff competition. Coperni designers Sébastien Meyer and Arnaud Vaillant imagined their very own high school for AW22, turning their show space on the outskirts of Paris into a school hallway, aligned with lockers and soundtracked by a rowdy mix of Missy Elliott, Placebo and Hole.
Growing pains, teenage heartbreak and the ups-and-downs of trying to find yourself through your adolescence, were all pointers for the twosome’s latest offering, which served as an ode to the young, the wild and the restless. Take prom dresses, for instance, fashioned here from latex and gathered into budding flowers. Or Y2K denim, so low-slung that jeans became leg warmers instead.
Disobedient restylings of school uniforms saw the collars of blazers yanked into hoods — some with devil horns — or slashed to expose the rib cage, paired with upcycled Adidas Gazelles and an impressive blown-glass version of the brand’s buzzy Swipe bag. Maybe going back to school isn’t so bad after all?
