There really is nothing better than a press release, especially when done well. Well there is, the actual collection. And the Bally AW16 collection was great. But the press release was equally great. Kind of a fashions in word form great. “Sat on a revolving chair at the hotel bar, waiting for her friend, she gently twists from side to side to the sound of The Shangri-Las playing in the background. In perfect time to the beat, she taps the toes of her gold snakeskin and pink leather boots on the marble chequerboard floor. “That’s why I fell for… the leader of the pack,” she sings idly to herself, opening her leopard print bag to check her lipstick in a compact mirror”. I mean, you read that and you can just see the collection, perfectly, in your head. Swinging sixties mini dresses, elegantly a-line with a little princess coat, or a shaggy fur something something shrugged over the shoulders. Or for that matter an elegantly cropped trouser in a vivid hue with a block heel. Or maybe a little pointy bootie that laces up the front. Nothing too high, you want to be able to walk, or should that be strut, in the street after all. I mean, it’s Bally, it was made for strutting.
