“I use my grand IQ to decide what lip gloss to wear in the morning and how to hit three keggers before curfew,” uttered the immortal Veronica Ryder in Heathers. This was the closest Winona Ryder-Heathers-Make-up-based quote that I could find and I evoke it in celebration of the news that Ms Ryder will be the face of Marc Jacobs latest beauty campaign. So, no need for her to use an ounce of IQ to choose what make-up to wear, because Marc Jacobs (and his fabulous team, obv) has done it for her. Now, the look (for those beauty buffs – fine liner eye crayon, velvet noir mascara and new nudes lipstick) was based not on a Winona Ryder movie, but on the the 1961 French film, The Last Year at Marienbad. Over to Marc Jacobs, via his Instagram – “the flawless cool, elegant and timeless chic of actress Delphine Seyrig has long been a reference of mine. The force of the surreal calm, and painstaking fetishistic polish of this film and its heroine are truly ‘ON FLEEK’ and continues to inspire me.” And of Winona herself – “a brilliant mind, talent, and physical beauty like no other.” Here here!
