Set your alarms sneakerheads! Another crowd-pulling Wales Bonner x Adidas Originals collab is landing later this week.
Once again uniting Bonner’s design language – which celebrates styles born within the Black diaspora – with classic silhouettes of the sportswear giant, the AW24 collection pays homage to New York’s Harlem neighbourhood. The power couple re-imagine a series of sportswear pieces as an ode to the building blocks of hip-hop culture. Renell Medrano brings the pair’s energetic vision of Harlem to life, shooting a campaign instilled with vintage bikes, chunky chain necklaces and red-brick New York terraces. On the city’s streets, the collection sees ’60s-style floral patterns appear on knitted shorts and polo-shirts (collars flipped up, of course), grandad-esque sweater vests paired with knee-high socks and a double-breasted pencil skirt in a rich shade of red.
Five new trainers are also joining the Wales Bonner x Adidas Originals universe, including two new Sambas and a reprise of the Adidas Originals Superstar (your secondary school favourite has had a facelift). Decked out in a croc-embossed leather, the new Sambas feature woven leather tongues with a classic gum rubber sole, and are available in both navy and brown colourways. The pair’s first ever Superstar iteration is framed in a clean white colour palette, bedecked with the Wales Bonner logo in gold. Chromed-out kicks are also on offer, coming in the shape of two Samba Millenniums from 2009.
Available globally from this Thursday, get ready to bring a taste of Harlem finery to your everyday wardrobe. Shop here.
