It’s a little bit strange to be sat here talking to you about a series of new bags, with the imminenant lockdown and all. Yet it’s not everyday a fashion titan like Vivienne Westwood teams up with an accessories giant like Eastpak with the shared ethos of saving our oceans, is it? For the pair’s very first collaboration, Westwood and Eastpak have made a sustainable collection of accessories created from plastic bottles that pollute our oceans. Yes, you’ve heard that right. From the main fabric and the lining, to the webbing, bindings and logos of this five-style collection, all strictly uses recycled PET – part of Eastpak’s work towards making its collections more sustainable. And who better to help achieve that than dame Viv herself?
Re-imagining five classic Eastpak sillhoutes, each design is emblozened in a sea creature print that first made an appearance at Westwood’s AW06 Propaganda collection. The five desins are then stamped with “Save Our Oceans” on the front using eco-friendly silkscreen printing. From the staple Eastpak padded backpack every lad in your year had at school, to bum– and man bags as well as a roomy travel suitcase – this collection is ideal for all your outing once we’re allowed to get on with our everyday lives again.
The Vivienne Westwood x EastPak collection is available online now.
