Vivienne Westwood Releases Her Diaries In New Book, Get A Life

We’ve nabbed a copy of Vivienne Westwood’s diaries. Procured by legal means, obviously. We did not, of course, rob her bedroom whilst she slept. How dare you. She’s a dame. It’s probably treason or something. Nope, instead, the last 6 years of her diaries have been collated into a special book, available for purchase by us mere mortals, entitled “Get A Life”. Covering everything from trips to the Amazon where she campaigned for rainforest conservation to driving a tank to David Cameron’s home to protest against fracking, it is, as you would expect from Dame Viv, not your typical fashion froth. As the lady herself said, “my diaries are about the things I care about. Not just fashion but art and writing, human rights, climate change, freedom. I call the diaries Get a Life as that’s how I feel: you’ve got to get involved, speak out and take action.” Which means, naturally, Ten Towers are currently planning our chaining-self-to-railings look. What’s more chic than being radical? Mark Ellingham, the publisher at Profile Books and Serpent’s Tail, said, “Vivienne Westwood is someone who says exactly what she thinks – all the time. That’s what makes her diaries so compelling. You never know what she’ll be writing about nor what she’ll choose to say about it.”

Published by Serpent’s Tail, Get A Life: The Diaries Of Vivienne Westwood, is out now…
