Meet Westwood’s eco-warriors. Her punk hunks. In my mind, they, like Hovis Best of Both, are the best of both. They have all the positives of punks – progressive politics, a concern for the environment, a desire for social change, a distrust in the establishment and a fight the man, fuck the system, rage against the machine attitude – and all the positives of hunks – a hot bod. This season, these hot bods were dressed in mismatching tartans and tweeds, tailored loosely, with drop crotches, almost. They were dressed in shirts with exaggerated collars, jackets with exaggerated lapels, bandanas emblazoned with slogans such as “CHAOS” and “CLIMATE REVOLUTION”. There was a deconstructed shearling coat, an unbuttoned onesie. They wore feathers in their hair and beads around their necks. These are clothes from the political frontline. And no, not Charles Barry’s bastion of self-serving, money-grabbing, environment-wrecking, war-waging Western imperialism over in Westminster. Vive la Vivienne revolution!
