Vivienne Westwood’s Freedom Fighters Take Over Selfridges

Here at Ten Towers, we’re pretty much a pacifist bunch – the only weapons we can imagine carrying are killer heels and knuckle clutch bags. But when Vivienne Westwood enlists for her freedom-fighting army, we’re happy to throw on some plaid cargo pants, and get into formation. You know, the Beyoncé kind. Launching today in Selfridges, it’s the new Vivienne Westwood pop-up space inspired by the brand’s ongoing call for change. In the makeshift, Westwood-branded army base the things run a bit differently. Instead of the expected greens, these surplus army lockers have Harris Tweed tartans and multi-coloured camouflage prints hanging in them. Heavy black combat boots are swapped for colour-blocking heeled cowboy boots, while the khaki parkas now come in hot tangerine. After fighting for a free world economy while dressed to the nines, Westwood’s army is now returning victorious from war against giant corporations and governments who serve themselves over the people and the planet. Utilitarian yet nothing less than fabulous, it’s the kind of troops you want to be a part of. And beyond the tartan blazers and unisex knitwear, the Selfridges pop-up is now bringing the option of customising your chosen looks with Viv’s hand drawn graphics. Yep, this is the kind of army that doesn’t require uniformity, but encourages expression of individuality. Are you recruited yet? We’ll be jumping jacks all the way to the 3rd floor of 400 Oxford Street. See you there, soldier.
