We’ve never been more envious of someone’s work ethic than Mr Virgil Abloh. Not only is he at the helm of two of the biggest menswear brands in the world, but Abloh is also a DJ, artist and curator. To call him a creative chameleon is a criminal understatement. Now he’s about to add another rather impressive accolade to his lengthy CV. Abloh has teamed up with Mercedes-Benz on a project which celebrates the company’s iconic G-Class model, which turned 40 last year. Entitled Project Geländewagen, Abloh has teamed up with Mercedes-Benz chief design officer, Gorden Wagener, on an exclusive artwork that will be revealed digitally September 8.
“Mercedes-Benz is a brand that stands for luxury and exceptional performance,” says Abloh. “Truly a perfect chassis to interject modern artists’ ideas of what the future can be stylistically, within conceptual car design.” The duo will also create a home-scale replica of their unique work which will be auctioned off to support independent artists who are currently struggling to create amidst the global pandemic. Mark it down in your calendar, September is set to be a goodun!
