Virgil Abloh Announced As Men’s Artistic Director, Louis Vuitton

We love a bit of a fashion shake up. The rumour mill has been swirling full speed and now it’s confirmed: Virgil Abloh is the new Men’s Artistic Director at Louis Vuitton, effective immediately. Boom. Interesting, very interesting. After working with Virgil 12 years ago when he interned at Fendi with Kanye West, Michael Burke, Chief Executive of Louis Vuitton, has been watching his every move. “Having followed with great interest Virgil’s ascent since he worked with me at Fendi in 2006, I am thrilled to see how his innate creativity and disruptive approach have made him so relevant, not just in the world of fashion but in popular culture today,” Burke said in this morning’s press release. “His sensibility towards luxury and savoir-faire will be instrumental in taking Louis Vuitton’s menswear into the future.” So what can we expect from a Virgil infused LV? Well, after Kim Jones’ Louis Vuitton Men’s Supreme collaboration last year, the house has already been introduced to all that streetwear, right up Virgil’s alley. We see more of a pop culture twist and a whole lot of obsessive fans buying bulk. His first show will take place in June during Paris Men’s Fashion Week. The future looks good.
