God save the queen! For their latest Haute Couture presentation, Viktor & Rolf call upon the British royals as inspiration for a fistful of camp. Uniting the monarchy to the highest form of luxury fashion, the design duo wished to reflect the facade that stands behind the new generation of royals and pay tribute to the fashion institution that the brand has served for almost 33 years.
Showcasing how all women can be queens, each look is crafted out of the same three elements: a dress, a coat, and an accompanying sash boasting cheeky slogans such as ‘Always wear your invisible crown’ and ‘Don’t be a drag, just be a queen”. The pieces come adorned with elegantly crafted, colourful faux fur, reignited Swarovski crystals, and pearl-encrusted crowns – everything is larger than life.
The three-minute collection film included 16 looks, as models stroll through an endless white hallway, giving the most glamorous side-eye the entire way through. To accompany their couture show, Viktor & Rolf will be hosting a one-day-only exhibition at the Chapelle Expiatoire in Paris. The invitation-only event will capture the essence behind their designs, where guests can live out their prom queen fantasies with these mega looks.
