It’s Wednesday, so we’re once again ‘woman crushing’ and ‘throwing it back’ to last Friday, and the London Pre Collections which ended on a bang. That bang being a personal run through, chez her boutique, of Victoria Beckham’s Victoria by Victoria Beckham cruise collection. This season, Victoria looked to the circus for inspiration, “drawing inspiration from the striking colour combinations and graphic motifs of fairground iconography”. Think of this as a classic Victoria, Victoria Beckham collection. All the hallmarks of her younger sister brand are here. The dresses are short, hitting mid thigh. There’s a sixties element to the cut, it’s a little A-line. There’s a playfulness that comes through in the oversized scalloped trim motifs, the oversized bows at the waists and the brightness of the primary colours. And did we mention the denim? There’s denim here. And it’s good. But then Victoria has always given good denim. And as the lady herself says, because nobody says it better, “I wanted this collection to offer versatility, as we broaden the label to reflect the complex lives of the Victoria, Victoria Beckham girls. I travel a lot and so do my customers – with this other side of my wardrobe, it’s important to keep things easy and wearable as well as fun.”
