Versace: Ready-to-wear SS16

Donatella Versace went all out for spring – she ditched her usual digs in the Via Gesu and uprooted her Versace show to a cavernous stadium on Milan’s outskirts. The theme of the show was the woman unleashed in the urban jungle, but you couldn’t help but wonder if said unleashed femme animale was Beyonce, given the romper-stomping glamazon fest Versace offered up. Animal prints were big -metaphorically, and literally, leopard spots blown up to the size of teacups and stamped all over slinky silk suits, the most evident examples of a strong core oftailoring where darted-in blazers defined a skinny torso above kicked-out flare trousers and models hiked up on platform heels. Evening wear obviously kicked up the pace, with sequinned tiger and cheetah prints wrestling across the bestest, shortest evening dresses Milan has offered. What a show. Worth, indeed, of its stadium setting.
